Connecting People.

Have you been on the RapidKL LRT (formerly known as PutraLRT) lately? A friend convinced me to go for the New Year Countdown at KLCC on 31 December 2005. So we took the LRT from Taman Jaya at about 9.30pm.

There weren't many people onboard but they seem to be using Nokia handphones because of the familiar polyphonic ringing tones. I thought the newer models had louder speakers because the rings were quite loud.

I then realized that it weren't the phones which were ringing. It was the public address system!

Wow! Some people at Nokia were creative enough to convince RapidKL to reproduce their messaging system. Nokia's tagline was announced at almost every stop. It's more than just media influence. It has become brainwashing!

This led me to ponder: are God's people creative? I'm sure we are. But how are we to be good stewards of our God-given creative talent, especially in leading the masses into God' Kimgdom?

This is my first time observing such a massive public event up close and personal. I usually don't even watch it on TV. A friend who brought me here commented on the crowd which never stops walking by: can you imagine the eternal destiny of this crowd?

George Barna, in one of his book, calculated that the church has hundreds of billions of dollars at its disposal. But how is this resource used? Most unfortunately, in erecting bigger and supposedly better buildings which are but used only occasionally, usually once a week. What a waste.

Wouldn't it be better to trailblaze and set the standard for effecting positive life-change through the media? I'm sure that, with all the kingdom resources that God has given us, and with God's enabling and strategic direction, we can up the ante for Nokia and all secular companies to beat. Now wouldn't that be a challenge for the New Year?

Messiah. Connecting People... To God.
